About the seminar

Workshop Description

Emotional Regulation in the Treatment Room is a one-day psychology-based training for holistic practitioners who want to feel more confident supporting clients through anxiety, overwhelm, tears, shutdown, restlessness, anger, or emotional activation.

Practitioners will learn how emotional dysregulation appears in the body, voice, breath, posture, behavior, and communication. Through simple nervous system education, practical communication tools, grounding techniques, breath-centered regulation, somatic awareness, and ethical referral guidelines, participants will learn how to create a calm and safe treatment environment.

This training is designed for practitioners who work with the body, energy, touch, acupuncture, massage, coaching, yoga, movement, nutrition, or other holistic approaches.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand emotional regulation and dysregulation from a practical psychological perspective.

  2. Recognize common nervous system states, including fight, flight, freeze, fawn, collapse, and emotional flooding.

  3. Identify signs of anxiety, panic, shutdown, dissociation, anger, and overwhelm in the treatment room.

  4. Use grounding, breath, voice, pacing, orientation, and simple somatic tools to support regulation.

  5. Respond skillfully when a client cries, panics, becomes angry, freezes, or disconnects.

  6. Avoid over-processing emotional material or moving into psychotherapy.

  7. Maintain a clear therapeutic container through boundaries, consent, and ethical communication.

  8. Recognize red flags and know when to refer to a psychotherapist, GP, crisis service, or other mental health professional.
